Virtual launch of the UNFPA 2026 Humanitarian Action Overview.
On December 11, 2025, UNFPA will launch its 2026 Humanitarian Action Overview (HAO), an annual report that highlights the organization's critical work in crisis settings.
In 2026, more than 61 million women and girls of reproductive age will require humanitarian assistance. Conflict, persecution, and climate shocks continue to uproot millions, while attacks on health and protection services leave women and girls without safe places to give birth, seek care after violence, or access contraception. Crises are accelerating faster than systems can respond, pushing communities beyond their limits — with women and girls bearing a disproportionate share of the consequences.
At the heart of UNFPA's mission is a simple and enduring principle: no woman should die giving life, and no woman or girl should face violence or exploitation. Even where systems collapse, UNFPA remains committed to ensuring access to quality, life-saving sexual and reproductive health and GBV services when the need is greatest.
On 11 December 2025, UNFPA will launch its 2026 Humanitarian Action Overview (HAO) — the organization's global humanitarian appeal. Released at a pivotal moment for the Humanitarian Reset and the UN@80 agenda, the HAO outlines how UNFPA will adapt and lead within a changing humanitarian landscape. It highlights the indispensable role of SRH and gender-based violence services in emergencies, examines key trends shaping risks for women and girls, and sets out the financial and operational requirements needed to respond at scale.
The virtual event (15:00-16:00 CET / 9:00-10:00 a.m. EST) will open with remarks by UNFPA Executive Director Diene Keita and include contributions from several donor governments and partners working in crisis contexts.
This launch will present UNFPA's global humanitarian appeal for 2026, reflect on progress made in 2025, and explore how the Humanitarian Reset and UN@80 priorities can strengthen accountability, localization, and protection for women and girls in the years ahead.
