The United Nations General Assembly in 2008 with the resolution A/RES/63/139 have established the observance of World Humanitarian Day . This day, observed annually on August 19th aims to honor the memory of humanitarian workers who have died in the line of duty and raise awareness about the importance of humanitarian work globally . The resolution calls to increase public awareness about humanitarian assistance activities and the importance of international cooperation.
